About the Periodontal Procedures

Extraction With Socket Preservation

If a tooth needs to be extracted due to not being able to save the tooth possibly due to injury, decay (cavity) or periodontal disease, the socket of the extracted tooth root is preserved to allow for a future implant or to improve esthetics of the area under a bridge.

Socket Preservation is a procedure where after extraction of a tooth, bone grafting material (cow bone, donated bone or artificial bone) is placed in the socket and is covered by a membrane (filter) in order to preserve the bone in the area of the extraction.
