Frenectomy (Frenum Removal)

A frenectomy is a procedure where a ‘tissue tag’ is released with the use of a laser. A frenectomy may be done for a variety of reasons as there are several frenums in the mouth. A frenectomy may be done to release the tongue for a ‘tongue tied’ individual so that they can speak better and have better tongue motion, to improve facial esthetics, to help close a space between the two front teeth, or to avoid gingival recession from a frenum ‘pull’ around a tooth.
